this is a weird question during COVID but does anyone know particulate filtering masks that have enough airflow for high effort on a bike?
it doesn't need to be covid-levels of filtration, I just want to be breathing less exhaust from every car running rich or diesel truck.
right now I just hold my breath at intersections, which isn't really all that safe or tenable.
this sort of thing? i think basically any mask with an exhalation valve is significantly easier to breathe through, so, while this might not be exactly what you're looking for, you might benefit from looking for masks with that feature.
inhale volume is the issue, unfortunately (and the 3m reusable cartridge half masks don't handle sweat well, they start losing seal, but do have better flow)

Anti-recommendation in this specific case: My Flo Mask, which I love, is harder to breathe through than a regular N95. It's very breathable with the Everyday filter, but whenever I put on a regular N95, that's noticeably easier. (I suspect because the filter area of a Flo Mask filter is smaller than an N95's total area.)
If you've ruled out N95s for pressure drop reasons, you can rule out the Flo Mask as well for this case.
