Hostile architecture does not create social problems, it exacerbates them. The anti-homeless spikes don't create homelessness, they just make it worse, more intolerable and more harmful for the people subjected to it. Similarly, the problems plaguing eg Twitter and the like were not created by them, but exacerbated by technical decisions deployed to do so.
People are unhappy and hurting because we live in a society that's slowly killing us, not because of social media.
