my theory is that Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA, conversion therapy for autism) largely exists to train you to fail all the tests you need for a diagnosis that enables you to qualify for SSI and other services.
if nothing else, the purpose of a system is what it does, but the more I have to navigate supports the more it becomes clear that state and nonprofit funding sources basically create this because they're only looking at metrics, and none of the therapists can actually check their notes against their patients because of the power imbalance they're all seemingly unable to grasp.
