@NireBryce

i wish I could stop being cool because I yet again have too many followers and get uncomfortable posting anything casually or sarcastically lest someone take it as serious advice that then gets passed on

@NireBryce

everything just feels like this combination of

  • "anyone might mistake your well established jokes with friends as serious because they don't bother to have the context just like the last 1500 times"
  • and
  • "you know, this really is just mass distributed casual surveillance even if the only way people show it is with very inappropriate for them to have deep context in a reply to you. people don't get what they're doing but one in ten really is"

point 2 is also, often, someone with ~10 years less perspective and collected experience telling me something I've been thinking about for five years can't possibly be related to their area of specialty

in reply to @NireBryce's post:

I accidentally saw my cohost follower count and my heart dropped because it's approaching my previous max on Twitter before I aggressively started pruning.

The issue I have is that like, I'm just some rando who knows a lot of things but only with references in front of them, and people keep seeing me as some pedagogical source even when I'm not taking that tone
