i keep being reminded that most people, even technical people, did not use the chronological timeline on twitter.

Sure, it looked like I followed 2000+ people but that was more a "I think you're cool and you can DM me without filtering" rather than "I will read everything you post"; I had a list of 50-100 people whose every tweet I actually read.
my most hated feature on twitter is the top tweets timeline. useless fucking thing
don't show people my likes. they don't need to know about them. i don't need to know about theirs
yep, also I would use push notifications (but disable them in the OS) so that other people would float to the top of my notifications pane
I never used "Lists" and didn't even know you could do that! I kept my following list pared down so that I could read every Tweet (using the chronological timeline.)
I'd have been more okay with Twitter deciding my feed if I knew I could do that with lists.
