it's so frustrating that people decided to call the room with the toilet the restroom. everywhere should have a real restroom and it should be full of hammocks and chaise lounges

fuck Odysseus. fuckin. axe hole shooting bastard.
I just discovered that the Criterion Channel has a feature that I haven't seen on any other streaming service, at least in the browser interface: you can pull up a live transcript of the film in addition to the subtitles, at least for films where that's available (which appears to be a lot of them). you can independently scroll the transcript as well, like song lyrics in a music app, and there's even a search field. it works in fullscreen mode, too
IMO this is a huge accessibility win, on top of what it provides for film students, scriptwriters, etc. I've struggled to continue to support to the service since it started (as I was an early adopter during pre-launch), putting my subscription on hold for months at a time when finances get tight, and when I see things like this it makes me feel like I made the right decision
(I adore the 2002 Soderbergh "Solaris" for reasons mostly unrelated to the original Tarkovsky film, don't @ me)
you can do this on YouTube, it's often machine generated but importantly, you can use ctrl-f (find) on it
