i make youtube videos about (mostly old) 3d platformers and (mostly old) horror games.

Here I'll probably talk about cool indie games (horror and 3D platformers) that I've found.

The last few months of this year have been blasting me in the face with the most "james has wanted this for a decade" indie games I've played in ages!

"Pseudoregalia" has been the acrobatic "move the guy" platformer I've wanted since Mario 64. Just a delight to string together all the moves and get around the world in your own way. This one's def gonna become a big speedgame.

"Corn Kidz 64" is also an amazing take on Banjo Kazooie! It only has the two worlds, but the town level is SO well put together that it's better than any level from any Banjo game (if you ask me). The main character is also my favourite character design I've seen in ages, and the walljump is just sick! Amazing year for walljumps.

"Cavern of Dreams" is another N64 inspired platformer that I've been loving! The worlds are so dreamlike and full of personality. It leans more into the "find random objectives" Banjo stuff, but the fun movement is still there. Backtracking is so snappy, and I love how the worlds interconnect.

As for horror, don't miss out on "Fear the Spotlight". It's a non-combat, modern controlling take on Silent Hill 1's visual presentation, level design, and puzzles. The way you physically interact with everything is so cool, feels like Shattered Memories. Almost like it's meant to be played with a wiimote and nunchuck. It's one of my favourite looking games I've played in ages!

All of these are currently only on steam, but they're all cheap as heck and absolutely worth your time!

I love indies and am not a huge fan of AAA games and I barely played any AAA games but there was a ton ton of widely well recived cool enough AAA games this year so I don't know if I would agree indie games hard carried this year at least compared to other years.
