Fucking hell. Reddit and now this? Fuck, I haven't posted anything of value on Tumblr, but now I definitely don't want too. If I had things of value to post that is.
Also, I understand why 404 media put the article behind a pay wall, times are tough for everybody especially journalist, I don't blame them, but it sucks and I don't like it.

404's paywall is pretty mild - put in your email, get a link to the site under a "logged in" profile - and mostly just designed to stop AI from scraping/stealing their articles
I get it, I'm not blaming them, but because of my situation, I cannot spend any money at all on the internet. That's why I'm complaining. If I had money, 404 Media would be one place I wouldn't mind spending it.
