The mating call of the American woodcock
Woodcocks periodically interrupt their peeting to conduct aerial mating displays—this one was mostly too far off (or up) to catch on mic, but here’s a snippet of song from the end of the display!

As an American, I saw "American Woodcock" and had a moment of worry that this might be something not-entierly-accurate about George Washington and his long-suffering wife but fortunately it's just a birb!
when did you record this? are they already out looking for love?
I recorded these at dusk last night here in the Lake Champlain basin!
