The library in Evanston (the one Chicago Suburb that gets a pass) has a peregrine falcon nest near their roof and the Field Museum banded the three-week-old chicks yesterday for the Peregrine Program. They brought them in and educated the public about the birds and the project in general.

Pictured here, in a rare moment when none of them were screaming to be put back: Eclipse (the only female), Noodin, Millennium Falcon and Megatron. (Can you tell they had the community submit names for them?)

You can look at them live on the falcon cam!

i mean i'm with you that Evanston reads as the most "if someone said they were from chicago and they were from here instead i wouldn't really feel some type of way about it" suburb, but i can't really figure out why somewhere like Oak Park (on the green line, walkable neighborhoods), Cicero (on the pink line, similar population density), or Norridge (completely enclosed by the City of Chicago) might not necessarily have the same sort of vibes... unless they do, and then what other suburbs would we have to extend amnesty to.......

Hmm it's a very vibes-based thing, you are correct... I would say Cicero and Oak Park should also get a pass. Norridge is on thin ice, too close to O'Hare and therefore, annoying to get to.

And like Skokie is on the Yellow line but absolutely does not read as "Chicago-ish enough to get a pass" so it's not entirely about CTA access...
