The cold seems to be bringing them inside because I went from seeing none in months to several in an hour

Like I know they are probably upstanding members of the community and important for the household pest ecosystem, but they are so creepy and I can't deal with them

They have too many legs and they are always scurrying around, and they are so fast and it's not their fault!

I don't want to kill them or have Spouse throw them outside to freeze, I just want to not become a giant baby when I see them scurry from the floorboard to the door frame or something

The centipede disagreed with this course of action, so it climbed on my cat's nose at the first opportunity, which led to my cat kind of bluescreening and trying to back away from the thing that was just sitting on her nose, spooking herself by hitting a chair with her butt and then shaking the bug off and finally munching on it.

Now I won't say I am perfectly in love with centipedes now, but this one did make me laugh and I did feel bad about its untimely demise

I saw this on a pest control website:

"Tea tree oil or Peppermint oil are overwhelming to centipedes. Add 25 drops of either essential oil into a spray bottle with 6 ounces of water. Spray around door frames, windows, small cracks and basement doors. Repeat once a week to keep centipedes away."

They are important and theyโ€™re metal as fuck, they do not fuck around with any bugs smaller than them haha, scared of spiders? Keep these guys around. They look like those really heavy metal band logos, but animated haha, which I find endearing. I definitely had to catch one in a clear plastic cup and cope with it for a bit the first time I saw one, chat with my sister, but I came out of it liking them. I dunno, the only reason theyโ€™d come near me is if something I definitely donโ€™t want to be near me is there.

lmao they are just a bunch of lines, aren't they? I always thought they look like fake eyelashes

Not being used to seeing them is probably part of the problem, hm

The way I am learning to deal with spiders is to look away. like oops, sorry buddy! We have a pretend-we-dont-know-the-other-one-is-here agreement and you're breaking it! Guess I'm just gonna leave the room for a bit and when I come back you'd better be out of sight! Ok thanks!

just wanna say i am right there with you, these mofos above all other bugs always creeped me out. (well, roaches and silverfish are pretty bad too...)

i have nothing constructive to offer.
