As for the mystery of the missing lunch...it exists, but not usually a restaurant thing. There's lunch at like, noon or 1pm. And then there's the secret third meal before dinner: merienda. That's coffee or mate or some such drink with a small toasted sandwich or a pastry or another snack. This is around 5-6 pm and it tides you over until dinner at 10
