Is your icon meant to resemble the Moon rune from Glorantha/Runequest, or is it just a coincidence?
I have no earthly idea what those references are too, it was a simple sigil made by a friend for the sake of the group of friends, he designed it in middleschool and i dont think he's familiar with these references either, may i have a picture of the material you are referencing?
Runequest is a very old RPG, and its primary setting is Glorantha. One of the central conflicts in the setting is the conflict between the Red Goddess, who owns the Moon rune, and Orlanth, who owns the Storm rune.
The Moon rune very much resembles your icon, and it symbolizes magical prowess, illusions, cycles, and balance (specifically two polar opposites embodied in one whole).
