nintendo is suing the devs of Switch emulator Yuzu, claiming the program illegally circumvents their encryption tech and encourages piracy.

included in the brief are a few screenshots of nintendo adults whining about spoilers, perhaps proof that being a baby online can fuel legal action

Sure it encourages piracy, but consider this:

Fuck you, you're more than rich enough, stop crying, its literally free marketing.

I knew a guy when i was attending ITT tech who did a paper on the effects of piracy, and it turned out it was beneficial to the company since the majority of pirates will, for one reason or another, buy a game they pirate, or if theyvwont its due to not thinking the game is worth the expenditure in the first place, resulting in lots if free publicity, and nearly no lost sales.

So the piracy thing is a hoax, piracy good, piracy only good

it's not about stopping the leak, it's about making sure that people know that nintendo has the legal right and ability to ruin their lives for even making it possible to infringe nintendo's intellectual property rights

not familiar with the former but as far as the latter goes, it's mixed. they don't really have any solid ground with this specific angle, but they do have ground on the yuzu devs explaining how to bypass a lock on one's switch. here's an article that dives into it better than i could

Not to mention that Yuzu and Citra both surrendered to Nintendo, making the big N's stock price rise, and embolding it for an attack on any level of preservation.
