As the human host of Hunger resisted its darkness, it grew more and more enraged and insistent. His best efforts failing to destroy the ravenous darkness consuming his human spirit, feeding off the human's sorrow and social rejection.
He awakened in a field, sitting up to see the familiar shadow, its aura more than just shadow now, its rage burning blood red.
The horrifying shadow snarling "you will not be spared the rod.. I hunger!" Before charging the adolescent human with sword in hand.
The boy had fought this creature so many times he learned to hole his own, eventually subduing the monster. Their power entwined, neither had mastery over the other and they would be cursed to struggle furiously for years to come.
The boy would occasionally meet a girl, she would make him feel special, then destroy him. This vicious cycle would represent an ebb and flow between his vitality and Hunger's. Love bolstered the human's light and morality, suffering and dejection weakened the human and gave Hunger the upper hand, loosening the mortal's grip on his will to live.
Upon his 14th birthday the boy had enough, making plans to kill himself, not because of the accursed monster devouring his essence, but because he merely had no hunger for life, he would keep it secret, get a gun, then end his life in a way no one could stop.
Thirst would meet this sad amalgam entity, its unified presence acting to inspire its weaker sibling, loosening the human's grip of the reins.
It woukd be over a decade of hardship, repetitive heartbreak and struggle before the human would know death.
Hunger's human met a girl he loved more than he'd ever imagined possible, he made plans to marry her, to have children, plans he never made before, never even considered. He had never had true hope to be happy in such a traditional sense.
Hunger fought but was powerless to the light the girl showered its host in. The human caged the weakened god inside his own body, now threatening to devour its darkness to become a paragon of kindness and light.
"You are being deceived... A creature of light could never love us, love you... She will cross you as they all do, and when you break... You'll destroy me too..." It snarled from inside its prison, the walls of which shrunk by the day, threatening to crush and destroy the dark entity.
"Liar... You just want me to be miserable like you..." The human man argued with the god.
It slammed its claws against the indestructable walls, roaring "I WANTED US TO THRIVE! BOTH OF US!"
The human awoke and neglected the creature it finally had mastery over. Every day giving him more and more power over Hunger, crushing the life out of the entity.
The crushing walls eventually suffocated the ravenous thing, making it black out from the pressure, whimpering "not... Again.. Why... I... I'm... Hungry..." Before losing consciousness. The human had won.
Hunger awoke, the prison walls broken open, and its mind ringing with trauma it couldnt comprehend. The human lie on the ground of their shared mind, hemorrhaging from trauma so severe he could barely speak through gasps and spasms.
"H-hey... I-i'm s-sorry.. You w-w-were right... No one... Could love me..." He gasped, weeping, broken.
"I wish you had joined with me, we could have searched for a suitable lover together... Why did you fight me?" It asked the human.
"A world of light... Abhors a shadow..." He said before letting go. The human decayed into raw energy for the dark god, its control now absolute, it reviewed the trauma the human suffered most recently and saw the crushing deceit of his human lover.
"This is was the problem to start... Its humans who are the problem.." It thought, resolved to be more responsible with this body than its foolish mortal predecessor.
