Something beautiful i've observed about FFXIV, compared to GW2 and other MMO-adjacent/"live service" games I've tried.
Almost very online service game i've played, they love shoving their microtransaction/cash shop in your face. Destiny 2 will for example, infrequently give you loot boxes you have to redeem by talking to a merchant in the tower that runs the cash shop, so that it will try and offer you the devils temptation.
FFXIV, on the other hand, either intentionally or because of old design, keeps that shit out of sight out of mind. Impossible to access it in game. you want to buy a chicken suit you have to open a WEBSITE on your browser. It's not even made clear anywhere in game* that this exists.
*that i've noticed, at least
