Usually this is where I'd say something like, "Don't freak out, the Death card isn't literal. It's a metaphor for change," but in this case, ehhhh I dunno,

I don't know this seems like a pretty normal warning about how your weekly BDSM sword play is going to get you robbed of your swords
In the past you've been able to find the humility to accept you're the problem. Right now, you're spent, and there's nothing more you can give the situation. In the future, the cycle will begin anew and you can start over.
one of the less foreboding interpretations is that it represents melodrama: yeah, you've been hit a hard blow, but surely it can't be that severe
(guy who was just stabbed with nine swords) yeah i guess it could always be worse
The Death card is the subject of my favorite tarot joke ever. In one of the Ghostbusters comics, an experienced reader is doing a reading for Ray and flips up Death, and is like "Oh no...". He naturally comes in with "Come on, you know it doesn't mean actual death." to which she responds "When has change for the Ghostbusters ever been a good thing?" He doesn't have a rebuttal for that.
