Oh yeah! I said on my twitter that Id dive into my little rabbit hole from last night over here!
So hopefully you saw my doodle of the Queen dog from earlier, and a good bit of you probably picked up on the fact that its a adorable little character from the unnamed bedtime book in Bluey, Unicourse (S3E8)

What you might NOT have known is that the book is almost definitly inspired by a REAL childrens book by the name of "The Purrfect Carpet" written by David Passes and illustrated by Norman Johnson

The stories arnt exactly 1:1 of course. Aside from the species difference, the plots veer off from each other, but the spoiler at the end remains the same~

David Passes didnt do much else in the realm of childrens books it seems, going on to have a dragon book he wrote be much more prominent when you search him up.

Norman Johnson however... I have no idea! They have a name so.... normal.... that theres tons of talented people out there that share it! If you have any info on the illustrator, please share it with me!

Attatched are a couple illustrations from the book, it really captures that fairy tale meets the soft chalkings of blend together fable books (a la more modern winnie the pooh, for example)

A very very cozy work, but no unicorns in this one either~

....also uh, lemme know if you like me rambling like this ;w; its kinda fun just to blog again....

that's so cute! the art style in purrfect carpet looks so comfy and familiar, like a picture book i never actually read as a child but have memories of. bluey seems like such a comfy show, i really should get around to watching it a bit myself =u=

Its a very enduring style!! You probably saw some works by Beatrix Potter, or one of the many artists inspired by her. She helped popularize the very fade-into-the-page watercolor style. And Bluey is super cute!~ very good for vibing out onlazy padded mornings uwu
