I'm Ongion, and this is my incredibly-belated intro post!

I'm a software engineer that likes reading and playing video games, and doing various artsy things.

Previously, I've done some perler bead art, and it got... a little involved.

84100 Perler Beads! An absolutely massive picture frame (about 5.5 ft by 5.5ft) that depicts the map from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Upon looking closely, each "pixel" in the map is represented by a single Perler bead. The entire map used 84,100 beads to make.

Lately, I've been doing some machine embroidery, which partially why I've finally decided to make this post. I want to start showing it off!

A picture of person standing on a deck in front of a lake. They have black hair, and are wearing a denim jacket. On the jacket are 5 embroidered patches, arranged in a pentagon around a 6th, much larger embroidery patch. The central patch is a naked cartoonish goblin wearing a red fez and smoking a pipe. His body is turned away from us so we can see his bare ass, but he is looking at the camera over his left shoulder. Smoke from the pipe wraps around and above him to form the letters "RUDE TALES". Additional smoke is emerging from his ass cheeks and wraps around below him to form "OF MAGIC". The other patches are the faces of characters from the podcast Rude Tales of Magic. Starting from the top and moving clockwise, the first one is Albee Dawn, a fawn. She has red hair tied in a ponytail. The next one is Bellow Gorramael, a blue tiefling. After him is Stirfry, a kenku (a crow-person), wearing a red hood. Next is Frederick DeBonesby, a skeleton in a pink powdered wig and a fancy pirate hat with a feather. The last (but not least) is Cordelia, a Sasquatch with purple hair and a denim jacket. All of this artwork was originally made by Carly Monardo.
A picture of a hand holding two embroidery patches. On the right is the Heartless emblem from Kingdom Hearts, and on the left is the Kingdom Hearts logo. The kingdom hearts logo has an interesting dark-blue-to-light-blue gradient in the heart outline.
A picture of an embroidery patch of Mimikyuu, the pokemon. In the bottom right corner of the picture, part of an embroidery patch of Bulbasaur is also visible.
An embroidery patch of an icon from Hades, the video game. More specifically, the icon is the Bond Forged image fro Hades himself. It's an octagonal bronze star with shading, on top of which is a cartoonish face. The face has greenish skin, and a black beard/mustache that's twisted in the shape of a two-pronged fork. He has red eyes, and laurel crown that's colored in shades of red, orange, and yellow. The entire patch has a red satin outline.

If I ever get around to it, I'll probably make some longer-form posts about my process and specific techniques that worked well for me. But for now, that's me!

(also listen to Rude Tales of Magic, it's really really good y'all)
