I've been getting that FFXIV RP brainrot thanks to Myths of the Realm giving attention to Mooncats so this post is just gonna be a gradually expanding collection of the info I have so far about my WoL - Satora Lhansi.
Satora is a Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te from a small family to the north of Quarrymill. They were hit pretty hard by the Seventh Umbral Calamity, with their usual hunting grounds being disrupted and stronger creatures moving in. With no furs or pelts or meats to trade and trade routes evaporating anyway with everyone struggling to survive post-Calamity, everything has been scarce for the Lhansi family.
Before the Calamity, her family was quite large. The seventh of nine born to her mother and the fifth AMAB, she realized in her youth that she identified more with her sisters than her brothers. I'll be working out the details of her siblings at some point, but for now I have a broad idea that she had a few highly supportive brothers and sisters who didn't fully understand at first but were eager to aid her and convince the rest of the family to respect her. Satora adapted her deadname into her current name, changing it only by dropping the apostrophe.
The vast majority of her siblings have since scattered, her brothers having largely departed in their teenage years while several of her sisters set out to find work post-Calamity. A few of her brothers have since returned to the family to support in what ways they can, and all try to maintain regular contact.
In the chaos of the Seventh Umbral Calamity, Satora and a few of her siblings found themselves separated from their family. A passing adventurer trained in Arcanima in Limsa Lominsa came across them and fended off a pack of frightened and violent Anoles before helping them take shelter and reunite with their family. Satora in particular was inspired by this adventurer.
Having always been more reclusive and not quite as physically adept as her siblings, she developed a curiosity in magecraft outside of what was taught in the hostile Gridanian society. Over time she saved up extra coin here and there until she could purchase a worn Arcanist's tome with the intent to study it and learn a new style of combat which she believed could help her family to survive in the changing Shroud.
On her 18th nameday, her mother offered what little coin she could spare to allow Satora to set out on her own and enroll in the Arcanist's guild. And so she went, traveling first by Chocobo carriages from Quarrymill to Vesper Bay, and then by boat to Limsa Lominsa. I wrote a bit about that over here.
This post will expand over time as I add more and more details. I'll likely also organize it better into specific sections at some point.
