thinking about trans girls and why they threaten patriarchy
there's a lot of bullshit about us "threatening women's spaces" but that ain't it, that's just the lie they tell to turn cis women against us
the real threat is that we're a bridge for gender equality
think about all the outbursts of abject fury from dudes in nerd spaces over the last decade or so. we've always been around in these places sure, but ... well lately we did start getting vocal about equal access, as more of us started coming out
it occurred to me why tho: it's not like we all dump our interests when we transition. We're still coders or radio nerds or gamers or whatever, we're just girls now ... in the same male-dominated spaces we were in before transition
so you have the choice in that moment of either giving up what you love ... or asserting your right to stay fucking put, goddammit, just because i'm running on E now doesn't mean I gotta dump all my vintage computers in the trash, fuck off
we, by our very presence, force conversations about including women in male-dominated spaces, and patriarchy sees that as an existential threat
we are, in fact, dangerous to them, at least in so far as we threaten their primacy in society
hard to argue women are somehow inferior, when one of them was standing aside you just last week
