This is my monthly update post, cross-posted to both Patreon and Cohost, detailing the progress I've made on my Let's Plays. More below!
Crash Bandicoot
The Crash Bandicoot Let's Play concluded this month! While I was tragically unable to finish Stormy Ascent (though I was close) and at the strong urging of a friend I gave up on the time trials... I did 100% everything that was in the original release! Platformers are not my thing to be sure, but I still had quite a bit of fun with it.
Mega Man Battle Network 2
The new Let's Play has begun, and it's Battle Network 2! I have never played this once before (at least, not beyond the first 8 episodes) and I gotta say it is surprisingly more difficult than Battle Network 1! Speaking of, I also put out a bonus episode for Battle Network 1 covering a few new things in the Legacy Collection as well as a couple side quests I missed in the original run last year.
The first four videos are out publicly on YouTube as of this writing, the first 13 are up for Patreon, and the first 15 are recorded. Y'all. This game is going in a direction I did not expect. I can't wait to see where it goes from here!
As I've been progressing through Battle Network 2, I've been finding that... it is likely going to be a far, far longer game than Battle Network 1. Like, I'm on pace for it being a 75 episode series at present. Near half a year!
Final Fantasy XIV
We have made it past the Lady of the Vortex! While much of A Realm Reborn is world building and the slow growth of your character into a renowned hero of Eorzea, at this point we have firmly shifted into plot progression. Technically we had shifted into plot progression with the Coerthas arc, but it was mixed with world building for Ishgard. Now it's pure plot. And it will stay like that to the end as the stakes grow ever higher.
On the recording side of things, I am right in the middle of the week-long finale! The final quest of A Realm Reborn will be recorded this Saturday!
FFXIV moving into the ARR finale is so exciting. I can't wait to get to the patches. Covering them is going to be... interesting for sure. There's a lot of very different content available during the patches and I've been thinking about how to properly cover it all. I think I have a good plan in place?
Miscellaneous
This month got wild. I started a Discord server for the FFXIV community here on cohost. It kinda... exploded in size? Dramatically? And became kind of an informal cross-DC FC? It's been an experience for sure. If anyone wants to join, go ahead and ping me, I'll send an invite!
I'm also deeeep in the job hunt and definitely a little worried about how many game companies have been doing massive layoffs lately. But hey, at least I got my first game credit this month, and in a AAA title as well! Keep an eye out for me in the second credits scroll of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac Games! I was only an intern at Insomniac for a few months but the experience was so much fun.
Coming Up
Battle Network 2 moves out of the initial bit I have played and into largely new content for me! Including a very sudden change of pace!
Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn is coming to its finale, at least for the base game! Once done, I'm going to begin recording the patch content.
