how many cycles would there be under NMG rules? i'm not even sure what constitutes NMG these days lmao
the minimum i can conceive of is 3 (not counting the Deku Scrub cycle/cycle 0). The main constraint is the Anju/Kafei sidequest since that needs to be done at least twice (diverging on the letter delivery), and you need to have at least one cycle where you don't do it at all (to get the Bomb Mask).
i did a casual playthrough back in Dec 2019 where I managed 4 cycles, but the 4th cycle was basically empty other than doing the Oceanside Skulltula House on Day 1 (cause I forgot to do it earlier). it should be doable in 3.
