I really, really wish the protestors in Xeno2 were handled a bit better. All we really got was Zeke being a dick about it, some "well at least we're doing something" holier-than-thou bs from the party, and some "oh in hindsight the protestors were very close to being spot on and we should've listened to them" on a repeat playthrough.

Like, no, they were wrong to blame Blades. But they were right to blame the way Blades are distributed and treated by Indol and the world at large (at Indol's influence).

In Xeno3, Alexandria notices via the collectopaedia cards that the distribution of resources seems to be unnaturally balanced to prolong the war. The exact same thing is happening with how Indol distributes core crystals in order to exacerbate and prolong wars, giving Amalthus more refugees to turn into Blade Eater weapons. But no, we just get a blanket "wow fuck the protestors" from the bulk of the party.

As usual - the Xenoblade games have the set up for an excellent payoff, then forget the payoff.
