Images from The Second Sword, a 3D RPG being developed by Apogee and Cygnus Studios sometime in the early 90s. It was built on top of the "Raven Engine" that Id Software had developed for Raven Software's Shadowcaster. According to a blog post on the 3D Realms website, the game was shelved in favor of the arcade-inspired shmup Raptor: Call of the Shadows.

Cygnus would try their hand at the 3D RPG thing again with a Doom engine game, but an employee mutiny during development led to the staff of that game splitting off into their own studio and taking the project, tentatively called Strife, with them…
