Social media posts are, for most purposes1, eventually lost to time. It's very difficult (on every site, not just Cohost) to really get a good sense of the totality of your work writing posts. The closest equivalent is follower count, and we all know how disconnected from post quality or effort that is.

I wanna take the posts that I'm really proud of, that took a lot of effort and were well-received, and put them on my website. Then I can better feel the weight of my effort and get some fulfillment that would otherwise fade with time. Maybe update some of them over time as my feelings or opinions change.

Also just be able to fuckin remember writing those things. Even just normal average human memory loss as you age is way more traumatic than I anticipated—I want to talk with who I used to be, but in a lot of ways I can't because I only left scant traces of evidence behind.

  1. In some ways they are forever archived, but for most people there's no reasonable view of their past posts that isn't crowded by shitposts or other noise. Unless you do a bunch of work searching through an archive or are a prescient and prolific tagger.
