There's a funny tweet going around:

I couldn't help but dig a little out of curiosity.

I went to the original Reddit post and checked out the linked repo, which is a tool for finding all the accounts using a similar username across many sites.

I was curious why this person wanted to use a tool like that, so I checked their profile and found that right before starting to post about Github they were commenting in a thread in r/AirlinerAbduction2014. Specifically, this comment and the comment it's replying to:

Perhaps this person has signed up for other accounts using the same username and from there you can gain clues as to their location and then if you get a phone number that you think could be related to them - if it contains those digits then you know you likely have a good number.

I was curious who RegicideAnon was and a quick search turned up this article.

So apparently after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing in 2014 someone posted some hoax video to Youtube under the now-deleted RegicideAnon account that faked UFOs next to the plane. Conspiracy folks think it's an international coverup and recently realized that the Google account associated with the deleted Youtube account still has a Google+ page with a name attached to it, and attempted password recovery to see the last 2 digits of the phone number used for the account. Our not-a-developer decides to try and find other accounts associated with the username to see if they can get more of the phone number, probably attempt a SIM swap to get control of the number, and then password recover the account so they can log in and try to track down more info about whoever made the footage and what they know about ALIENS.

In other words, Github has no easy download button because the government wants to hide the fact that aliens are real and abducted a Boeing 777 and all its passengers in 2014.

Well I mean, of course they do. People just WANT you to think it's Git Hub, but it's actually Gith Ub, where Ub is unbound, showing that the Gith (no relation to Forgotten Realms) are unbound by Earth law in their actions
