I've seen a few of them but they are few and far between, but I love the idea of programming modelling kits—a guide on how to make a specific kind of software (an emulator, a music player, a static site generator, etc) that has space for individual expression in the same way that a model kit can be custom painted, modified, or serve as the basis for a more drastic custom build. I kinda wanna find a few of these and run through them. It'd be so cool to play through Link's Awakening on an emulator I made.

I'm a fool and don't save links consistently so I can't pull them up, but static site generators and emulators have a lot of tutorials you can find with a web search, although the emulator ones often fizzle out after two or three posts—the challenge is finding a completed guide.

Collecting these guides in one place or at least links to them would be a useful endeavor.
