You collect new components by exploring the web and finding them on other peoples' pages
There's timeskips to 2003 when YourSpace launches, 2006 when EffBee and BirdSite launch, and 2009 right before the EarthTowns free web host site your page is on closes down
Later eras you can still visit old bookmarked sites that have decayed, images aren't loading, sometimes entire pages disappear. The Internet Archive (brand used with permission) lets you view webpages from earlier eras as the game progresses
Unsure what the narrative would be / how to trigger progression to different eras.
The webpages themselves would be actual webpages using web components and could be viewed / exported to real HTML files
