Its kinda one last remnant of that bizarre insider-lingo that manifested when companies got Big, to a scale we just kinda don't get anymore (IBM, GM, RCA, Kodak, US Steel, that kinda scale). I'm sure big tech companies like Alphabet or Apple also do it to some extent but idk.
