On the phone: "Yeah so that little talking deer guy is part of the main cast I love him... No he's the only deer that can talk but he can also talk to any animal.... Well he ate a magical fruit that also lets him become a big deer guy with sexy muscles... No there's like a ton of different magical fruits... Yeah they do a bunch of different stuff to people. Anyway his name is Tony Tony Chopper... Well no because Japan kinda flips the first and last names so I think technically his LAST name is Tony Tony but maybe I'm wrong. He's also a doctor."

Me talking about Jon Bois’ 17776: “Yeah, it’s called seventeen thousand seven hundred and seventy six, that’s also the year it takes place in, but mostly things are exactly the same as they are now because the premise is that for unknown reasons all adults stopped aging or dying and new babies stopped being born, so basically humanity has been in a collective rut for 15000+ years. The main characters aren’t any of them though, instead it’s about 3 real-life space probes that developed sentience over the millennia and now just shoot the shit watching things play out on Earth. So in a way it’s kinda NASA/ESA fanfiction where Pioneer 10 and the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer are like a bickering old married couple and Pioneer 9 is the technically older but mentally younger sibling, and also the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer talks like Dave Strider from Homestuck and rambles about stupid bullshit like Lunchables. Anyway, the whole thing is really funny but also kinda devastatingly sad and existential at times, there’s a lot of stuff about how badly we fucked up the planet, about the lack of children, about the terror of eternity and the struggle to fill a literally infinite amount of time with anything to avoid going insane from boredom. Oh yeah, speaking of which, did I mention football? Yeah, the story was written for a sports blog so mostly it’s about absurdist games of American football.”
