y'all should share this post because i am tired of seeing people be like "ai steals shit" "ai is using absurd amounts of water" when those things just aren't true! please stop!
also I'm less of the mind that ai generated media should be legally considered plagiarism or theft, but rather that ai generated media should be uncopyrightable, which if I'm not mistaken has already been established by American courts at the very least.
Corporations will be disincentivized from replacing real artists with AI when they realize that a) they can't really make the AI do precisely what they want because a probabilistic slop machine can't make tweaks or understand your human ideas in any way, and b) they can't legally own anything they produce and anyone can do whatever else they want with those outputs.
This won't entirely solve the issue because then we come to "AI media tweaked by a human" and that's a whole other can of worms, but yeah AI slop should be completely exempt from protections for human art globally.
yeah i pretty much agree with this. in an ideal world copyright wouldn't be a thing at all, but it is, and with how hands-off ai is you can't really ascribe it an author in a way similar enough to what we mean by it legally
