The Indiepocalypse Pledge Drive returns in a little over a week on March 3rd. Each year (technically every 10 months) I host with the stated goal of breaking even with Indiepocalypse (monthly anthology of alternative games i run).
In a practical sense, "breaking even" is a wholly unrealistic goal. I get further from reaching it every year! The pledge drive is more a way to ensure that contributors get at least one royalty each year and I do so with something approximating a big fun event. The initial livestreamed drive will be from 9am-5pm ET on indiepocalypse.com/radio, but the drive itself will be active for a full week at indiepocalypse.com/pledge.
During the pledge drive there will be a limited PWYW bundle of commissioned games from the past 10 issues with all sales from the drive being counted as sales for all the unprofitable issues. That's also why the break even number is so high! The total loss for Indiepocalypse is closer to ~$12k, but my split for sales is only 20%.
Please tune in, pledge, and/or share it if you want! Fortunately, Indiepocalypse has always been budgeted to be sustainable with no sales (it functionally replaced paid off student/car loans) so this isn't any sort of live-or-die style drive, but it can't hurt to inch the zine closer the actually being self-sustainable!
