The latest edition of Indiepocalypse (the monthly alternative game anthology I run) is now out! If you don't know what Indiepocalypse is I wrote a starter guide!
This is the end of the 3rd year of Indiepocalypse and as I head into 2023 I decided to make 4th year the Laid-Back Year. Part of Indiepocalypse is providing a way for developers who hate the constant hustle to get someone to do some of that hustle them, forgetting of course that I too hate the constant hustle. I wonder if just putting out the zine each month outweighs whatever I would get from press releases and attending events (that i'm accepted into/can afford) and this year I'm going to kick back and find out.
'Laid-Back Year' does not mean 'No Effort Year' and this (and all future) issue's guest 10 Indiepocalypse Picks is an attempt to support the past and future of the zine in ways that are not exhausting and boring. The backlog is increasingly intimidating but I want each issue to feel equally accessible! (and for people to not just take my word for it)
The games in this month issue (as seen in the trailer) are
- Sleep at Night by Brooklynn Whidden
- Mon Samsara by Jean-Christophe Pelletier - Productions Fougarou
- Spindlewheel Microgames by @teacabbage
- It Started With Hairs by @SuperBiasedGary
- Matter by PRINCESS INTERNET CAFé, Ellis Dex & Bb
- Ramiel by @nonbinary
- Labor rights funeral in Ukraine by Valeriy Petrov
- BRAINSTORMED 2: DEATH IS NOT THE END or, HYPERPHANTASIA by MDEV0
- Mare Memoria by Lassiter Waith
And newly commissioned for Indiepocalypse!
