Do you have a character name you tend to repeat across games? Whether it's the same archetype across games, a running joke name, or even just one you pull when you can't think of something on the spot.

I have used the name "Rictus" for an NPC on a 4e game, as my generic player name in a handful of video game RPGs, wrote him as a character for an abandoned dungeon world game where he would have been a lich, used it for my FF14 character name, and I used the name for a 3.5 character I never got to play.

I first heard the name from my Shadowrun GM in 2008, and for some reason it stuck with me and I just bounce that name around on things when I don't want to use Jama.

I am caught between chronic exhaustion waves so I haven’t the energy to go into great detail tonight but I don’t just reuse the names, I’m accidentally and organically developing my own personal commedia dell’arte of similarly named and themed characters who are explicitly not the same character (not counting evil faerie Alan Rickman and occasional versions of Nynaeve, like the Demiverse Nynaeve) but share a name and/or an archetype and/or a twist on one or the other for easy personal recognition

Many of them don’t reoccur with the same RPG group and thus it doesn’t usually look like I’m “reusing” characters but it really helps take some creative load off my DM brain to have the Troupe of Signature Characters and Usual Suspects

I have a character named Kellas who has appeared in every game I've played for the last few years. Fairly major NPC. Anyway, I regularly use some variation on Grey for him. My players know this...

This still never figure it out.

When I was a kid I always used "Rocky" for reasons I can't quite remember (I think it was the Red Ranger's name??), but now I'm the kind of person who spends 30 minutes thinking of an appropriate/thematic name for a video game's protagonist (though if the character edges towards self-insert-y, I tend to just put "Iro"). I did play through all of BG1-2 and NWN1-2 with the name "Alexander DeArizona" though, which arose out of a silly chat with friends.

TTRPG wise, I know a few people who definitely do this, but I haven't played enough to really have a chance to re-use names and I don't feel like I have any particular standbys either. Guess I'm an OC Poser considering I'm meant to be a writer.

i nearly always use my middle name (Ayasha) or an abridgement of it (Ash) in RPG's of all stripe to the point that that usage has sort of superceded its usage as my actual middle name. Only exceptions are if it's like, a real-world historical setting with strong naming conventions

When I play TTRPGs I almost always name my character after something from the kitchen, also they're always old ladies. Kettle, Ladle, Sieve, Pots, Whisk. I did make an exception once and went with Ladder, not quite kitchen but still sort of? Like maybe a step ladder. Anyway, they were called Ladder specifically because I wanted to try and jankily make a Dragoon type out of a level 1 Fighter by pumping up their jump skill as much as possible, and also carrying around a ladder to climb and leap off of in combat (cost a turn to get back up on top every time of it but so worth). To justify the ladder I had them start a roof cleaning business in the first town, which ended up netting a little gold on the side as a bonus.

It's not specific to tabletop, but Delvia or Del has become my go to when I need to name my character in a videogame. I first used it for a character I played in a forum rp.

Back when I used to run a bunch of last-minute one-shots I had a recurring NPC named Betsy. She was a fey who was usually the cause of or an exacerbater of whatever contrivance I had going at the time. Like getting high and body swapping the players or being the Sinbad in fantasy Jingle All the Way.
