Watched this phenomenal movie today. T___T
So glad it appeared on my letterboxd feed, I would've never found it otherwise.
Content warnings: blood, sui* mention, homophobic and transphobic slurs, misgendering.
If you'd like to watch it, someone apparently paid for professional English subs for it and uploaded the whole movie on youtube: LINK (the youtube upload is not available anymore)
Update: Huge thanks to @wave for sharing the internet archive page, where you can still download the movie <3
Update 2: Huge thanks to @exerian for sharing a download link to the 772MB rip of the movie with new subs.
Update 3: Huge thanks to @catball for mirroring the internet archive version of the movie.
Watched this and it's so fucking good. The climax goes so fucking hard. Ryu Ga Gotoku could NEVER. Please watch this cool-ass movie. It's basically the definition of a messy queer film. Quintessential example of "A little confused but it's got the spirit."
This movie was shot with, from what I can tell, very low budget, very little lighting equipment and handheld cameras for the most part and as a result it looks way better than basically every other movie in the last 20 years tbh.
Also this film was written, directed by and stars Hitoshi Ozawa, who played Kuze in Yakuza 0. Who, coincidentally, is a huge trans ally and also openly dates trans women?
This movie has existed since 2013. Yakuza 0 came out in 2016 and RGG studios still can't so much as have women have agency, much less be cool about queer people on a consistent basis.
Isn't this just Stop Hibari-kun! played seriously?
