Apple's ecosystem is closed and has a distinct lack of interoperability with non-Apple devices. You need an Apple device to use iMessage or to facetime someone. How Apple made this into something that's perceived as Good Actually and how you're somehow lesser if you can't use iMessage because you don't have an iPhone is a stroke of marketing genius that will infuriate me until the day I die.
Some people (thankfully not on this site) have interpreted this as me being mad and jealous about not being able to afford an iPhone. This is especially frustrating because I am mad, but not about being able to afford an iPhone: I'm mad because I don't want to be forced to buy into a closed source ecosystem that has built in vulnerabilities to please the surveillance state.
JUST FUCKING USE SIGNAL.
