The developer intended sequence breaks in dread are so weird. After getting the Varia suit, you could make a big detour and get the bombs early to get the quick kill on that one boss, or... you could just go directly kill him. He's right next door to the varia suit. It doesn't take that long with just missiles. Getting the bombs for that quick kill is a massive time loss. Why bother.

You could shinespark through that one cold room to get the super missiles early in Ghavoran but then there's nothing else you can do there. A one way obstacle blocks you from the rest of the area. Might as well take the intended route to Ghavoran around that cold room which gets you the super missiles anyway.

You could shinespark in that one conduit to get the cross bombs early before getting the screw attack but then the path beyond to the end game is completely blocked by a screw attack wall. Why bother? Just get the screw attack first.

The only one that actually seems like a time save is the gravity suit shortcut. But don't go there without getting the diffusion beam like I did because you'll get softlocked in there.

Like, the point of sequence breaking is to find faster, more efficient routes to finish the game. But the intended sequence breaks in Dread are... bad. They're severe time losses for the most part. From what I can tell, speedruns mostly save time using the pseudo beams glitch through walls and the input to do those feels real jank. I don't like doing it.
