about the surprising number of people who do not, themselves, have accessibility needs, but who get really loudly angry and condemnatory towards people who type with Homestuck typing quirks.

are y'all really worried about some hypothetical "person using a screen reader?"

or do you just think that being into homestuck, or even worse kinning a homestuck character god forbid, is cringe and you're laundering your fandom war drama through the social justice issue du jour?

Technically not answering your question, because I don't launder it through the language of social justice, but I do find that text written with typing quirks takes much more mental effort to process into the linguistic symbols that my brain can manipulate and decode -- therefore I find it aggravating, and I think it contributed to my decision not to continue reading Homestuck.

But it's not like Homestuck invented it, or I have any less issue with early 00's l33t speak affectations, or even utilitarian txting shorthands like "c u 2morrow" that developed as a means to cope with the extremely inefficient typing systems of early cell-phones. It is more work for my brain, therefore I don't like it.

oh God oh why oh no. I'm

okay it's important for PLATFORMS to be accessible, it's important for people generally to consider accessibility needs as they navigate the world as one citizen among many, it is OF LEAST POSSIBLE CONCERN that the posts and jokes and random thoughts of me, a non-famous denizen of the internet, be INSTANTLY ACCESSIBLE to any random person who happens across them in the course of looking for (almost certainly) something else, and I can't stop feeling like "everyone must be screenreader-legible at all times! no we're not questioning the limitations or prevalence of screenreaders, CONFORM!" and "this specific individual real person is BAD REPRESENTATION and PROBLEMATIC" feel like related errors to me
