omg I love her!!!!!! I totally get the whole "how do you make something fun for the people that Don't want it (but really DO want it) but this is like, the perfect balance. I wonder how many folks would know of her before she shows up in their lives, and how many folks would get taken by surprise - both would make for pretty fun teases!!
Sometimes you just really, really need someone to do exactly what you want, even when you can't understand or confess what that is.
And very much yes! Teff does adore catching people unaware, appearing as an unknown... But if someone is actively seeking her out? Oh, she can have fun with that, too.

This whole thing had me recapture and contextualize part of my own fascinating with genies I held before and still hold to the day. Teff always fascinated me with her vibes, style, and aesthetics and this lore just upped that fascination to a peak.
Additionally I feel seen by having the details of her powers be sourced from the pop-culture/self perception of what a genie is, I honestly love that aspect a whole lot as a source of power and being. I like when the source of powers and abilities allow for and/or incentivize individual expression and interpretations of it~!
Also, can't help it to say this but, goals. Mega goals. You could even call them wishful goals, even. ;3

Also, yes!! to Teff sourcing her ideas from pop-culture and self perception. It's awesome to hear someone else vibe with that concept! A bit of trivia related to that: One minor detail about Teff is that she desperately loves watching re-runs of I Dream of Jeannie. But whenever she watches, she spends most of the time muttering about how Jeannie should just rule Major Nelson entirely.

That was a nice read. Interesting to hear people explain how deeply an idea or a character means to them.
The queer villainy part sadly rings a bit too true, but the idea of reclaiming it like that is one I hadn't really thought on.
Thank you! Teff's been knocking around inside my head for quite a few years at this point, so I sometimes can't help myself.
And sadly, yeah, queer villainy is really more of a thing than ever these days. It's nothing I can take credit for - There's a big community around it entirely external to this discussion already - But I can't help but absolutely love the things they do. It's a bold re-contextualization, and one I adore.
I suppose I'm pretty reserved in general and being that open and bombastic, even in a fictional sense scares me a bit. Lord knows I got enough problems and I'd be giving spiteful people ammo.
At the same time it looks fun from the sidelines.
I do wish I could concentrate enough to really nail down an idea like that however. Think it says something that I've never really clicked with anything yet.

Pretty much all of my characters are monsters, but I don't think any of them operate under pure malice. Many of them, as you suggest, are providing something to their victims which these individuals secretly desire, and/or are unable to articulate or muster the courage to ask for... consent is often nebulous, but it is precisely the unlocking of a desire so obscurely sequestered which is satisfying to the antagonist (read: 'villain protagonist'), and ideally to the beneficiary of their attention. n.n It's the turning, the eye-opening, the collaboration in this endeavor which makes it so satisfying.
Thank you very much for reading it! I admit it's not the most focused, but I do enjoy writing about her (And letting her loose) when I have the chance. She's a fun lens to focus my "brand" through, if you will, even if she is somewhat goofy and overthought.
I absolutely understand just what you mean, from both ends of that realization and perspective. That unlocking is both potent and powerful, particularly when realization happens when it's... ah... too late, I suppose? Corny of me to say, but honestly I feel it true. As you say, eye-opening, and satisfying.
