"I will not be fooled into buying another Zelda," I tell myself, as my social media feeds bury me with perfect reviews, hype, and FOMO.

(No shade on people who enjoy Zelda, or those who are excited! It's just that I have bounced off every single Zelda game I have ever tried to play*, ever. I get about 1/3 through, life happens, and then I forget the game exists and can't ever get myself back into it. I bought BotW at launch, and I never beat it! It's just that Zelda games aren't really my jam, but I always wind up buying them anyway because there is SO much positive coverage and word of mouth. And I think "Maybe THIS time...")

(*Except Link's Awakening. That game's cool.)

I'm in a weird spot with Zelda where I've also bounced off most of the games, save for Twilight Princess which always seems to grip me for reasons I've never figured out, and BotW which I've played on three different systems but have ever only beaten once via Cemu with cheats and mods enabled. I think it's safe to say that I still enjoyed my time with it, despite never fully playing the game as intended. XD
TotK looks fine... I just can't shake the feeling that it's ultimately an expansion pack for BotW at the end of the day, one which costs more than the original game. There's absolutely nothing wrong with others finding value in that though, especially if they enjoyed BotW a ton. I guess I was just expecting a lot more after this game took almost as long to be made as BotW itself? it's weird.

I've got a road trip coming up later this month where I'm trying to decide on whether to get TotK, or just leave my Switch at home and play BotW with mods on my Steam Deck. will see what I end up deciding on. xP

Oh, playing in Cemu with mods is a thing I never gave enough thought to. I hear there's a really fun Linkle mod! Mods can add a lot to the game, even if just visual flair.

Also, you bring up an excellent point. I hadn't even really thought about how they're pricing this one, or that it's mostly an extension of BotW - Which is fine, to be clear, but if I bounced off of BotW, chances are I won't find a whole lot more in TotK.

That road trip decision sound really cool, to be honest! Gosh, just the fact that either option is available is something really awesome.

And I hope either way you decide, you have a lot of fun! ❤️

oh yeah, the Linkle mod is amazing! the version I have also swaps out every clothing item in the game with new outfits made for Linkle, it's a lot of fun rediscovering the clothing items and making cute outfit combinations out of them. xP

And yeah, you know yourself best of course, but if BotW didn't grip you, then I'm not yet entirely sure what's new in TotK that could change your mind there. that said, I also haven't paid the closest attention to the game either beyond the first couple trailers and gameplay demonstration, so take my word with a grain of salt haha

And thank you, yeah I'm sure it'll be a fun time either way! :D
