Vixen. Genie. Vixdjinn!

Hi! I'm Phorm, and I'm a Vixdjinn!

A Friendly Vixdjinn Says Hello!

I'm a genie girl, who really likes being a genie, and really likes everything about genies (really)! I'm a bit confused, lost, and trying to find my way, but I always enjoy interacting with folks here. (Trans🏳️‍⚧️, occasionally NSFW, Be 18+ or please be gone.)

VRChat on a donated HTC Vive. I never used mods and I've only recently gotten into uploading my own models. I haven't seen much of a difference tbh

Just that I crash way less now, but it might have been the worlds I was visiting. Despite my computer being kinda decent still with a 3070 and 3-year old amd ryzen

EAC and the way they handled it mostly just soured me fully on how imperiously they acted on the matter - I had been avoiding mods for months at the point they introduced it because it was clear that was the way the wind was going to blow and I didn't want to be used to having "extras." The stuff they did actually put in the game since then largely satisfied my reasons for having mods, it must be said. That is to say additional full body tracking fixes/options was largely the only thing I used clients for.

It spurred me to move my funding to Chilout VR's further future development as a lifeboat, but VRC is still "The platform" for better or worse.

edit: as far as EAC itself goes in the end it effected me exactly not at all. I considered the move scummy but the software has behaved itself on the surface, and they are now entered into a contract with it whether or not it accomplishes what they set out for it to do so, yippie, it's not goin' anywhere.

The EAC payload being dropped without warning and without discussion was what scared me off the platform entirely. Not because of the mods, but because of the way that software effectively opens vulnerabilities. It's admirable the way the VRC devs did step up to make features that compensated for the lost mods, but it still feels almost scary to me the way people effectively let such a hypervisor level piece of software install without even a second thought.

Then again, no one seems to care, no one seems to have an issue, and no one seems to have had a negative impact as a consequence of it? What I'm learning from the responses to my last few posts is that Yes, EAC is nasty software no one should trust, but everyone should trust it because we shouldn't trust other software and we use it anyway.

I don't know! I'm not making much sense, and I miss being able to use my VR stuff.

I totally agree with you, though. VRC is still "the platform". And likely will be for the foreseeable future.

Sorry to go on and on about this Again - but I very much appreciate your insight and your thoughts <3

I mean, for me, it comes down to it not being ideal but if I want to be with my friends I have to bite the bullet. I don't like it, I would prefer that it wasn't the tack they took on to mitigate people doing modding (previous to then they were simply engaging in random bouts of ban waves for people daring to use modded stuff) but it doesn't end up being a dealbreaker for me. There's plenty of sketchy software/their protection schemes/fast and loose rules for collecting data I use on a daily or weekly basis and EAC probably isn't close to the most hazardous of them.

I guess after getting rootkitted from playing a professionally published music CD everything seems relative
