So what's dancing like, for a genie? (Apologies if I'm stereotyping genies as all loving to dance - but I get the impression you do 🙂)
Dancing tends to be a fairly essential part of being a genie. Now, don't get me wrong - some genies do prefer not to dance, and that's perfectly fine!
But a large part of our whole thing is performance to go along with the wish-granting. If we just snapped our fingers and zipped back to our vessels, well... might as well be tossing a coin into a wishing well at that point, right?
So being larger than life, being over the top, making an entrance, and putting on a show is important stuff for us! And dance can be a really fun and entertaining part of that.
Dancing can come naturally if your bottle and current master/mistress/mastress have the desire to see you put on such a show - Recall that desire and yearning are what fuel our magic, after all. So sometimes a genie can find themselves delving into a belly dance even without training, as if it were the most natural thing, as informed by said desires.
Personally, though, I like to keep up with some traditional training. It lets me get creative with being showy - Like, what if I wanted to grant a wish in a grand fashion while catering to someone's love of underground electronic music? Blending belly dance with club-style stage performance can make for an unforgettable scene. Making it unique and tailored to the wisher, all while still having the flavor of genie.
Of course, genies are mostly known for belly dance. And for good reason! It lets us accentuate our movements even when smokey bits are involved (Smoke dancing is REALLY fun). You can really draw the eye to the hips, you know? But sometimes other kinds of dance just feel preferred. It's always an "as the moment requires" kind of endeavor.
That's mostly the technical side of things, though. I will note, there's a more magical aspect to it, too. It's not necessarily what was being asked, but there are some ... well, uh...
There are geniefication dances.
Or more accurately, some vessels have the capacity to play geniefying music - songs that, when heard by mortal ears, inspires an uncontrollable desire to belly dance. This is, of course, accompanied by a transformation and journey into the bottle. Not always something that happens, but honestly, pretty fun when it does.
Anyhow, bottom line, what's it like to dance as a genie? Pretty dang fun! (And Sorry if that was kind of all over the place. Not sure if that answered the question at all!)
