Vixen. Genie. Vixdjinn!

Hi! I'm Phorm, and I'm a Vixdjinn!

A Friendly Vixdjinn Says Hello!

I'm a genie girl, who really likes being a genie, and really likes everything about genies (really)! I'm a bit confused, lost, and trying to find my way, but I always enjoy interacting with folks here. (Trans🏳️‍⚧️, occasionally NSFW, Be 18+ or please be gone.)

Anonymous User asked:

Do the golden cuffs ever feel heavy or tight? Like physically or metaphorically so, in terms of the power and responsibility to manage as a genie?

Physically, the cuffs never feel particularly heavy. That'd be a lot of fatigue! They're certainly metallic, and they have weight, but being a creature of magic and smoke has advantages. A genie never really feels them as 'heavy' in that traditional sense. So, there's not really an issue there.

Metaphorically, well... I suppose it would be more apt to say magically the bangles do have an impact on a genie!

You see, a genie's bangles are one of the primary symbolic, enchanted items that forge the deep connection between her and her bottle*. They serve as one of the many conduits through which raw magic will flow from the bottle and into the genie, that she might shape it and make a wish reality.

If a genie were to resist granting the wish, the bottle can just pump more and more raw magic into her this way until she can't contain it and must make the wish come true somehow. This can often be felt as if your bracers are trying to go through the flourishes and motions of a wish, whether or not you want to. It can feel like a struggle. (Note: Honestly, 'struggle' isn't the word I'd use. It's more like trying to suppress an involuntary function. This isn't entirely unpleasant, but it sure is uncontrolled. It's a bit like a sneeze, if you catch my meaning).

Additionally, should a bottle ever have cause to exert direct influence over a genie, usually that influence will be made manifest via her bangles. This can be a situation where a genie gets magically exhausted, and needs to be pulled back into the bottle. Or, yes, even in a case where she might not be ready to, or want to, return to her bottle. Or if she just tries to... walk away (though sometimes the bottle will just give chase if that's the case).

Sometimes a geniefication can occur external to a bottle before the genie is fully pulled within. In those cases, usually you'll see a shocked expression as the newly minted genie stares at the golden cuffs, only then to feel themself being pulled in.

And if I were to speak honestly with regard to metaphorical weight? Well...

Those bangles are perfectly crafted. They're pure, metallic symbols that are magically affixed to the genie. They have no seams, no release, no latch. There is clearly, obviously, utterly zero way to remove them. They're there for good. So metaphorically speaking, they remind the genie that they are, of course, permanently a genie. For some genies, that's a bit much to deal with.

For some, it's very reassuring.

*For the sake of simplicity here, please assume I mean bottle, lamp, vessel, etc. whenever I say "bottle".
