Niche Games Enjoyer

Average person in their 20s. View Backloggd for my taste in games. I swear it's really good! And to clear up confusion, when I say "PMD", it always refers to "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon", which is another series I love!

Play Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Freedom Planet 2! And Solatorobo, and PMD: Gates to Infinity; those games have been shaping my preferences considerably!

SPOILERS FOR GAMES 2+ YEARS OLD!

That first link shown above, is where you can find the thousands of 3DS Pokemon Mystery Dungeon portraits I sorted with the help of Emmett Eon; very good stuff!

The #365DaysOfVGM list is finally complete, and was far more exhausting to make than I expected. Let me say a few things about the list to give you an idea of what you can expect:

Each track will be posted around 3:00 P.M CT like I did just now, I’ll try my best to stick to that schedule, although Tumblr will have the posts scheduled so they’re guaranteed to be on time. The order is semi-randomized, with some tracks moved around to improve pacing and prevent oversaturation in the following ways:

  1. No two separate days featuring tracks from the same game of origin will be in this list, although remasters/extensions from later games will count as the original instead of the remaster/extension’s source. Likewise, extra remixes/remasters will be posted alongside the original as long as they’re on the same day.

  2. No two tracks from the same franchise will be adjacent. It’ll be spaced out an extra space away from each other; it’s easily noticeable when it happens.

  3. No two long tracks will be adjacent (Spaced out the same way as mentioned earlier).

  4. All remixes/remasters will be official; no fan remixes unless released with the original distributor’s name as well.

  5. No more than six tracks from a single franchise will be featured in this list (Mega Man is an exception for now, I’m trying my best to replace more throughout this new year, I apologize if it gets on your nerves).

  6. No unused tracks unless they can be heard in gameplay for an earlier playable build; nearly nothing in VG music sucks more than hearing a super impressive melody, only for it to be featured in no playable sections at all. This also means no VG-related album/anime/movie music unless it follows after a related in-game track on the same day.

  7. The Day 1, Day 120, Day 248, and Day 365 tracks are predetermined, and some other miscellaneous things you’ll notice soon enough.

With all of that said, feel free to enjoy (or not enjoy) my handpicked selection of VG music preferences from all the games I played and/or researched in my life up to this point and then some! Maybe you’ll find something new to get attached to along the way! :D

Decided to add one more rule to the list (A new rule #6), one I was already following pretty strictly without even realizing it! It will help those looking forward to deep cuts to not have unrealistic expectations, as well as calm those not into obscure stuff, knowing they won't feel completely alienated in how I make my choices for tracks in the list; video games are generally supposed to be an interactive medium, so VG music presented in this kind of formal way without said interaction just doesn't make sense to me. Such tracks will still be in my Favorite VG Music Masterlist, which I plan to share after the year is over, just not in #365DaysOfVGM. That is all.
