Space Invaders Infinity Gene (alongside Double Dragon on iOS) were two games I played a lot on the iPod Touch. Infinity Gene was a fun shmup with a neat visual aesthetic and a distinctive soundtrack. It has a fun mode where you can generate stages from music on your iPod Touch/iPhone, which was fun to mess around with. It later got DLC where you not only got six new stages based on older Taito shmups, but you also got three new ships based on the three games featured. One of them is the Silver Hawk from Darius. The first stage for each game represented uses a song that originates from the game as is, while the second stage uses a new remix of it. It's neat! The update also allows you to play the game like a side scrolling shmup (it was originally just a vertical shmup).
This song is a remix off Captain Neo from the first Darius. From what I can tell, the original composer for this song, Hisayoshi Ogura, was not involved with Infinity Gene at all. I've only played DariusBurst Chronicles Saviours on Steam in terms of the Darius series, but I'm willing to try out more games from the series. It's got an interesting things where the bosses and some of the enemies are marine life. It gives it a bit of a distinct identity from other shumps. Some of the later games in the Darius series also has a beam war mechanic where if you time your laser right you'll get into a beam clash that'll end up with the boss getting massive damage, and it's cool! It's a bit hard to time in DariusBurst CS though...
