Niche Games Enjoyer

Average person in their 20s. View Backloggd for my taste in games. I swear it's really good! And to clear up confusion, when I say "PMD", it always refers to "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon", which is another series I love!

Play Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Freedom Planet 2! And Solatorobo, and PMD: Gates to Infinity; those games have been shaping my preferences considerably!

SPOILERS FOR GAMES 2+ YEARS OLD!

That first link shown above, is where you can find the thousands of 3DS Pokemon Mystery Dungeon portraits I sorted with the help of Emmett Eon; very good stuff!

(for any game, ever)

Typically, when it comes to enhanced versions of old games, there's usually a few features or improvements I can point to and go "this is why the new version is better". I can't really do that with TTYD Switch. Every single tiny detail has been improved across the board, and there's so many small changes and additions that just make the game so much better.

Small animation changes and new NPC expressions, quality of life tweaks, small localization changes, mechanical adjustments to improve the overall flow... and that's not even mentioning how gorgeous every single area in the game is due to the overhauled visuals, or how they not only redid the soundtrack with beautiful new arrangements, but also sprinkled in dozens of new tracks all over the game to avoid repetition and enhance important scenes!!!

While the corporate side of Nintendo often makes stupid, anti-consumer decisions, games like this are why they're so important in the hellscape that is the modern games industry. Every tiny detail in this game was made with love and care, and it really shows. I can only hope the game is actually doing as well on the market as it appears to be right now, and the heads at Nintendo take notice and continue to push the series in this direction.
