Hell, I (very occasionally) make music and sometimes pixel art, I'm writing a TTRPG, and sometimes I think I want to continue my dream of making a video game and then look at all the spaghetti code I wrote and decide that I'll duel the devil some other day instead.

Honestly, I understand this feeling, it's similar to how I feel (aside from generally enjoying feral characters too). Like, I guess if someone wanted to draw Lucario in a slightly more anthropomorphic style I wouldn't really bat an eye (maybe not the best example, because like... how would someone do that Lucario is already very anthropomorphic), but thinking about an anthropomorphic version of like bulbasaur feels different and not really something that's for me.
I probably don't have the same reasons for this feeling as you do. If I had to sort of lay out my own feelings on it, I guess its partially that pokemon feel like characters to me more than animals, so wildly changing a pokemon's anatomy feels like its messing with a character design rather than making a character out of an animal, which feels like a weirder concept to me. There's also sometimes a bit of "you've deviated so much from the base pokemon that you could change just a little bit more and it'd be fully its own thing, and I think that's a cool thing to go for," I guess.
Apologies for extending your ramble with my own, it was just interesting to think about! Thanks for sharing these thoughts.
No need to apologize for discussing things, I post all these silly thoughts I have because I really like to hear other people's ideas, perspectives, and preferences on them too! Helps me learn about other ideas and points of view, even on silly fun things. So thanks for extending my ramble with your own!

I also feel this way and I also can't really put the pin on why
Nothing to really add just throwing it out there that someone else out there feels the same feel
