These games mean a lot to me!

  • Chrono Trigger: Gave me the wonder of video games. The most important game to me. First time i felt tingles at a video game.
  • NieR: Auotomata: The bit at the end was a lovely theatrical moment that i'll never forget. Plus it did get me thinking about being.
  • Undertale: God, that game made me cry pretty hard when I learned the backstory. A Game about never giving up hope.
  • If Found...: Never cried harder at a game before or since. Very touching queer story.
  • Transistor: A Story of Love and Revenge, but i fell in love with its art nouveau-cyberpunk aesthetic first of all.
  • The Talos Principle: Another game that got me thinking about the nature of existence. Also the puzzles were super satisfying.
  • Celeste: A game that got me to push myself harder than any other. And the story of a trans girl with anxiety hit really close to home. the feather trick is forever in my toolbox.
  • Hyper Light Drifter: Amazing how much story can be told without a single word. And knowing the inspiration made it hit even harder.
  • Spiritfarer: A Game that is light and happy but about grief. It is a very touching game that i could not stop crying from.
  • Final Fantasy VI: Another game that gave me wonder as a child. One of the first games i knew had a story, a game that inspired me to learn English, like Chrono Trigger.
  • Sayonara Wild Hearts: More of an interactive album but its neon hued aesthetic stuck with me long after i stopped playing. The story of this girls' exes was also very affecting.
  • Battle Chef Brigade: A Game about kindness and competition. It also doesn't have so much content that it gets bothersome, knowing just when to end.
  • Pyre: A game about grief and competition. I'll never forget the feeling i had when i got to mount Alodiel the first time and realized what i was doing. The Revolution subplot also was effective on me.
  • Paradise Killer: another game with amazing aesthetics. an investigation with twists and turns that you ultimately have the power to dole out punishment for.
  • Papers, Please: The inhumanity of man against man. And yet, there's something humanizing about knowing and embodying the people at its forefront.
  • Bastion: Rebuilt or Return. A question for the ages. The characters were also very good, if small in number.
  • VA-11 HALL-A: I need to get back to this one sometime. There was something soothing about serving drinks to people.
  • Secret Little Haven: Another queer game. Transness is a part of me i buried for a long time, and this helped me come to terms with that.
  • Death Stranding: Predicted the Pandemic! But also it was a challenging walking simulator, sort of. I know its got it's issues but i like the characters.
  • Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove: Yeah not trying to pick one, i picked all of them. i never had an NES and this still made me so nostalgic. That's powerful.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker: There's a reason i put this over the "better rated" Breath of the Wild, and that is nostalgia and how well this aged.
  • God of War (2018): Well dang it, they made me cry in a God of War game. Seeing Kratos soften and be more vulnerable with his Son... Seeing Kratos finally forgive himself... It hit hard.
  • Dandara: A game about rebellion. Rebellion against a powerful regime, but also rbellion against notions of linear movement. Fantastic Metroidvania.
  • Opus Magnum: A Zachtronics game! my favorite one of them, too. Plus, I'm a sucker for alchemy and its aesthetics.
  • Outer Wilds: Don't get me wrong, it may be the last game of the list, it's also one of the most important ones. This is the only game i'd be willing to lose all my memories to reply one day.

Hades almost made it there but ultimately, as charming as it is, it did not touch me as much as the previous games. THAT SAID, the whole Hades arc was very affecting considering my relationship with my own dad.
