How do you think magnavox advertised the odyssey
like, it was the first video game console. Couldn't really weaponize its stats against other companies.

Honestly sounds easier, if anything. Basic features become selling points!
talk about basic features though. it could display three white dots on a black screen. and that was a breakthrough from only being able to display 2 without some software trickery lol
but that's enough for a really basic Table Tennis game that inspired Pong.
